Rethink your Storage Room

• Using stackable drawers enables you get to and put away an item much faster than if you have to remove a bin or 2 off a shelf and take off a lid.
• If you are storing an item for a long period of time in storage, let's say for your children's first apartment and you don't need to access it until that day arrives, you can use a bin with a lid. You can see the bins I use in almost every home I organize in SHOP BY ROOM.
• Always choose sturdy adjustable shelving so that you aren't stuck putting items between shelves to fit the storage item but you are able to plan your room accordingly and then decide on the spacing. That way you can section your shelving based on your categories above: handy hardware and supplies that you access frequently, closet to the entrance to the room and furthest away would be spare furniture in larger sections to allow for space to fit furniture.
